Periodically inspecting the warehouse is not only a good practice to make sure that everything works and that safety standards are met, but also a real obligation established by the legislation on logistics management.
In fact, UNI EN 15635 establishes the responsibility of the warehouse user to have an inspection of the shelving carried out at least every 12 months by technically competent personnel; moreover, this standard requires the drawing up of an inspection plan and the appointment of a person responsible for the safety of the storage equipment (PRSES).
One of the tasks of the PRSES, which we have discussed in this article, is also scheduling the inspection visits on the basis of factors relating to the operating methods, the size of the logistics area, the equipment used and the staff involved.
The risk assessment of the warehouse carried out by this figure is fundamental to be able to effectively plan periodic inspections and avoid not only possible sanctions, but also accidents to operators, damage to equipment and, from the point of view of logistics process management, maintain excellent performances.
