Sanitization of the logistics department: an indispensable activity not only during emergencies

A clean and organized warehouse is essential to ensure the overall efficiency of logistics processes and guarantee safety for operators and products.

Following a few simple rules to keep your warehouse clean can make a big difference in managing a safe, efficient and compliant logistics department.

Let’s see four tips to keep your warehouse hygienic and tidy.

Train your staff

Operators must be aware of the guidelines of the logistics area and periodically be updated on changes or additions: make sure that everyone is aware of their role and the related risks, as well as informed about what to do if a problem is encountered.

Keep your warehouse clean

Implement a cleaning plan that covers every corner of the warehouse, making sure no space is overlooked. Proceed with thorough cleaning on a daily basis and sanitization when required by regulations, removing all traces of liquids or materials that can cause damage to personnel and machinery or attract pests.

Inspect and organize

Products coming out of the warehouse are just as important as those coming in. Always inspect incoming shipments for damaged packages and products or signs of infestation. Establish quarantine areas for products that are potentially contaminated or need to be returned to the sender, as well as specific procedures that minimize the risk of bringing goods into the warehouse that may compromise the safety and the health of operators.

Divide and conquer

The responsibility for keeping the warehouse safe and compliant cannot fall on a single person. During staff training, each operator is assigned a clearly defined role in the management of these activities and is given a checklist. In this way everyone will have a reminder of what needs to be done and a precise guideline on how to do it, so that each procedure is carried out completely and efficiently.
