The main damage to the warehouse racks is caused by incorrect manoeuvring of the forklift trucks, which hit the racks causing serious damage.
The first rule to follow when this happens is not to underestimate the problem: consult a technician in the sector or contact the supplier directly is essential before making any change.
If it is determined that the damage can be repaired and no replacement is required, the rack must be completely unloaded so that there is no risk to the repairer. Regulations in force also prohibit the addition of components by bolting and welding, unless expressly authorised by the supplier. In addition, in the event of a change, the payload signs must be updated.
Repairs to damaged components must always be carried out with original spare parts, because only in this way is it possible to guarantee the recovery of the original function.
European legislation clarifies the cases in which it is mandatory to replace a rack: specifically, when a part of the pillar is cut and when there are bends or serious cracks.
The “straightening” of the bent component is not a recommended method, because you cannot be sure that the piece has regained its original function and, on the contrary, you risk compromising the safety of the entire warehouse.
