Automotive industry: optimizing space means real savings

SECTOR: Automotive industry

LOCATION: Piedmont (Italy)

Request

An important customer in the automotive sector has asked us to develop a project to optimize the logistics of his company, in order to increase the storage capacity of products classified by rotation, size and weight, simplifying direct access to goods and thus speeding up the order processing.

Project development

In order to define a warehouse reorganization plan that would meet the customer’s needs, we carried out a survey and a technical-functional analysis of the existing structures, providing a detailed report that showed an effective logistical solution.

In order to make the most of the space available, we suggested to build a mezzanine to use also the height of the plant, so that the company could reorganize the warehouse on three levels.

We installed picking racks, which are very versatile depending on the type of product, to facilitate direct access to the goods, integrating them with a software that allows you to quickly know the picking positions.

Finally, to further optimize order processing times, we added conveyors to link the different floors of the mezzanine and direct the goods to the correct department or area dedicated to packaging, labeling and issuance of the delivery note.

Customer benefits

Through the application of our project, the customer has been able to triple the logistics facility, optimizing the space so as to considerably improve the efficiency of order management and make the entire operating cycle more flexible.

This efficient warehouse organization has also minimized storage errors in a very short time.
